"The GOT will be the cornerstone of our interactive partnerships over the course of the next 12-16 months," says Debbie Nightingale, President of the Nightingale Company.
Casting for the lead female role of the series will be taking place over the next 3 weeks. The series will follow a young woman who becomes convinced the earth is in grave danger when she starts receiving strange clues that prompt her to seek help on-line. The story is accompanied by, and integrated with, a game that will take its young users into the real world along with the series characters, while searching for clues.
"This is an opportunity to approach a generation already in tune with the social web," says Debbie Nightingale. "We're taking alternate reality gaming to a wider audience and a new generation."
Nightingale is co-venturing with beActive in Portugal creators of the hugely successful multiplatform property Sofia's Diary to incubate up to five online properties. The GOT will be the first property to launch online in January 2008.
It fundamentally takes advantage of the Internet's unlimited possibilities for distribution of professionally produced story-based entertainment.
"The GOT is not another Video series Webcasted over the Internet: it's a truly interactive experience based on concepts of social networking, participation and creative contribution," adds Nuno Bernardo, General Manager of beActive. "We're truly pioneering the next step of on-line entertainment."
