Steve Unger used to be rich and powerful. Now he lives in his car. A fallen corporate exec, Steve was caught cooking the books and now finds himself legally forbidden from working in any position that involves “other people’s money”. Clinging desperately to the last vestige of his former self – his luxury sedan – Steve hopes to begin anew. Shunned by family and friends, under court order to teach an ethics class to other “fallen angels”, Steve now makes his home inside his 2004 Mercedes S430.

“Living In Your Car” is a half-hour single camera comedy about Steve Unger’s new life in the strange and precarious land of car dwellers. Though initially Steve breaks all the “car living” rules (parking in the wrong place, getting hassled by the police, getting towed) eventually, with the help of the other car dwellers he meets, he begins to settle into this new and strange sub-class.

“Living In Your Car” is an original comedy with a fully unique voice, telling the unpredictable, often hilarious and sometimes endearing, riches to rags story of Steve Unger, a man who was once viewed as the embodiment of success and who is now widely looked upon with contempt and pity.

The Last New Year is the story of the “The Fools and Bastards Club,” a group of ten close friends who made a pact in high school to reunite every December 31st to ring in the New Year together. Eight years later, what started as a simple party has evolved into a sacred tradition that preserves the friendships that have otherwise grown apart. However, this year, one of the core members has mysteriously disappeared, leaving the rest to struggle with what has happened.

At the centre are Penny and William, who hide a secret link to their friend’s disappearance that could easily tear the group apart. Ultimately, they must decide what is more important: keeping the dark truth to themselves, or keeping the “The Fools and Bastards” together.

This documentary focuses on the post-9/11 work of The Insan Foundation youth theatre group, as the players use provocative street or “guerilla” theatre to wake up Pakistani citizens to the folly of hate, ignorance and war. In particular, Insan is driven by the need to spread the word that children – especially young boys – are at risk of exploitation by Muslim fundamentalist “jihadis”. It’s this message that Insan brings to Canada as they conduct intensive workshops with Toronto youth. Along the way they generate friendship and hope, as they bond over the issue of peace in a war-fevered time.
